Divorce and remarriage

I was married in 1977 and divorced in 1980. Was married for a second time in 1984 and divorced in 2001. Invited Jesus into my life for the first time in February 2005. And because I had never heard any preacher speak about marriage, divorce and remarriage, I was about to marry for a third time in the summer 2005.

However, God stopped me! And I experienced a mighty touch by The Lord at the very moment it was over between us. Which gave me great Peace!

Then on September 14, 2007 while I were singing, praising, and praying, The Lord spoke very clearly to me about marriage, divorce and remarriage when my first husband is still alive. He showed me in His Word that I was forgiven, but He also showed me that there were a consequence for me being divorced, and that I only had two options. He sent me to the scripture:

1 Cor. 7:10 Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. 11 But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife. 39 A wife is bound by law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is at liberty to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord.

I got the option to either live alone as unmarried or to reconcile with my first husband. From the day The Lord spoke this to me in 2007, I choose to live alone as unmarried.

The Lord also told me to change my last name. Because the last name were my second husband’s name. And since my second husband were not my right husband, I should not carry his name. And when I finally applied to get back my birth name, blessings started to come towards me.

It felt like I had received a new start in life with new possibilities!

  1. Dear Reidun, I enjoyed your testimony on you tube. May God bless your efforts to say difficult truths that are not welcome in today’s churches. Warm regards, Russell [aka Don Quixote]

    1. Thank you so much, Russell (aka Don Quixote)! Appreciate you took the time to give a comment here on my blog. It is not easy to stand on the truth, but so important! More and more Christians are giving in for this lie, and I beleive this is where the judgement will come. Those that do not repent from this false teaching will be judged. May the LORD God of Israel bless you in a huge way. And again, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR KIND SUPPORT WITH THOSE WORDS. Glad you liked my testimony.

      1. Reidun, The word of God is powerful and sharper than any two edge sword. It is given to man to understand. the Holy Spirit through the word has convicted you of its absolute counsel. It is a wonderful thing and will lead you to the narrow gate that few will find. So sad about the biblical illiteracy and misguidance from modern day prophets and preist. They are profane as they were in the days of Jeremiah. Write me an e-mail sometime. Bill Hare 82 mkten10@aol.com May God bless all who read and take the advice there in as stated….”search for me with all of your heart and I will be found by you”

  2. Praise God for revealing the truth of the matter to you! I was raised in a home and church that SO taught against the sin of remarrying after divorce, but back about 2006 they changed their teachings and not only okayed the “innocent party” excuse, but if you did it before you were saved you could remain in it, and spousal or child abuse. Talk about going the opposite direction on a matter. I ended up leaving that church but sad to say some of my family and most of my church acquaintances stayed; there were very few of us who left. It has certainly changed my relationship with people that I’ve known for so many years but I don’t want to be in the “group” bad enough to be guilty of okaying the sin. Oh, how I want my family to leave there but I can’t make a person change, but God can touch in ways that I cannot; he did it for you, didn’t he? 🙂

  3. Thank you sister for your testimony on this issue it really edified me and encouraged me greatly being that it was only just last September of 2015 that the Lord showed me this truth. I will say it was rocky because I wanted to believe that it was ok and began to go back and forth on the matter causing double mindedness on my part but I finally surrendered completely to the Lord on this issue and being steadfast. It truly is peace of the Lord when you obey Him in all thing even when the whole world is against you. Bless you sister.

  4. Thank you Reidun for your testimony. I remarried second time was unsaved but deep downn always felt that my covenant husband was the true husband. I have spent time studying and researching the subject for some time. My heart breaks as there is very little teaching on such an important subject which is a big problem within the church. Even Christians getting divorced and remarried unbiblically. Tragic. The flesh does not want to submit to word of God. But there are many in our situation with similar testimonies where God has spoken by the Holy Spirit, even Pastors being convicted and they have obeyed no matter how hard. When we honour Him He honours us. Bless you for your obedience. May more follow your example.

    1. Thank you Edwina, I very much appreciate your feedback. I pray, may the LORD help many more Christians to see the truth and to stand up for the truth on divorce and remarriage with sharing their testimonies. May the LORD bless you Edwina!
